Old Solid Cast Mail Slot Bronze or Brass Letter Mail Slot. Metals nonmagnetic. This slot is signed on back and reads American Device MFG Co. Red Bud I’ll, CA-500B number 16.
Looks like original gold paint. All original. Raised Eagle/ Bird delivering mail design. No mounting hardware included. Check last picture showing down the shoot, catching the mounting brackets, only could find this one slot so not sure if it had a back shoot or not. Looks more commercial considering the structure of this well made and very unusually shaped mailbox Mail Slot.
Measures 8 5/8″ wide x 6″ tall and 1 7/8″ deep. Nice weight at 3 pounds. Old condition and love the way it looks, use as is, detail it or restore to its former glory. Has few imperfections from casting with scratches and scuffs, dont see any damage. All I could find online about company history – American Device Manufacturing Company (American Device MFG Co.) was founded in 1917. The company was known for producing a range of products.
