American Lava Corporation Chattanooga Tennessee Bronze or Brass Fish Pen Tray. The old stone tray base is 15″ wide by 8 1/4″ deep and around 1″ thick. pen slot is 8″ x 3″ and tapers down on ends to about 2 1/2″ deep. Tray & fish is 6 1/4″ tall, just fish is 6 1/2″ long. Unusual to see this type of presentation tray to someone from American Lava Corp. Weight is a whopping 10 pounds. The plaque measures 1 1/2″ wide x 5/8″ and reads With best wishes for the New Year and throughout the year American Lava Corporation Chattanooga Tennessee.
Good displayable/ usable condition for the period with ruff spots, scratches, scuffs, imperfections, dings and several chips about mostly on stone edges so zoom in pictures. Fish has aged look and nice Patina, don’t see any real issues with the large 6 1/2″ long fish besides average tarnishing verdigris and nice Patina to finish. Sure would make any Historical Company, American Lava Corporation or Chattanooga Tennessee Collector Smile!
Paul John Kruesi became one of the founders of American Lava in 1902. According to an article by Harmon Jolley, the American Lava Corp. was first located at Market Square and, in 1910, moved to Williams Street. ALCo was known for their German Lava Burners.
Guessing made early 1900’s. Cool Old Bronze Sculptured Fish Pen Tray! Look just as good on any anglers desk as it would on any historians desk displaying a pen or two!!
