Antique Cast Iron Elevator Signal Push Button Call Box. Seen similar signals said to be from the Elevator Supply and Repair Company, Chicago, Illinois but these are not signed. What makes these even more fun is there’s a pair! Also the button contacts are still there with one wired to up and down but other is missing wire with down button looking pretty weathered plus finish little more worn. Both were probable painted black down the road cause I think I see copper plating under black paint wear, Also seen similar call buttons with copper wash. Black could be original also so check pictures and know your signal call buttons. 4 buttons push in and out and not frozen.
Measures 12″ tall, 6 3/4″ widest part and 2 1/4″ deep. Each weight a whopping 7 1/4 pounds each. Metal is magnetic for cast iron. These do not come up all that often. Don’t see any damage.
Has scratches, scuffs, stains, paint splatter, missing wires nuts wiring parts, tarnishing, verdigris, nice patina and still look great! What you see is what you receive.
Guessing made early late 1800s – early 1900s. Cool Old Pair of Elevator Signal Call Boxes!
