Bronze mail slot signed Russwin. Just 2 pieces pictured so will need lock box, knobs, key cylinder, locksmith etc. This hardware needs to have parts found and be completed. Maybe missing cotter pins or other. As far as I can tell the two piece function and wouldn’t need much after rest of missing parts were found.
Lubed it, cleaned it, love it, listed it! It is 16 7/8″ tall 3 3/4″ widest part. Together the outside depth is 2 3/4″ and inside opening/ thickness of door is 1 5/8. Mail slot doors are 4″ x 1″. Mail slot inner box tapers down with largest section meeting brass front plate is 2″ x 5 1/4″ not counting top/bottom screw tabs. Weight of both is 5 3/4 pound.
Condition is key and these are very nice looking! No lock box, handles, spindles, cylinders, mounting hardware, etc. Seen only two complete setups with lock box that had handles and cylinder.
Russwin was founded in 1839 by Henry Russell and Cornelius Erwin. Corbin was founded in 1849 by Phillip Corbin, Frank Corbin, and Ed Doen. In 1902 the two companies merged to form The American Hardware Corporation.
Guessing made early 1900’s or later. Great condition for age and rare find! Please check pictures for description and condition.
