Gilt Bronze Sculpture by Emmanuel Villanis, Early 20th Century. Seen this type of finish called Gilt Bronze. Signed E Villanis. Titled Esmeralda. Does have a foundry stamp.
Seen these called bronze and heavy like bronze but could be brass. Metal is nonmagnetic. Nice weight at 3 pound 2 1/2 oz. Sits good with slight rock when prodded.
Measures close to 8″ tall, 4 1/4″ wide, and 3 3/4″ deep. Found some fun reading from the great Wikipedia at bottom of page on Emmanuel Villanis.
Metal bust is in very good condition with less than average wear for the age having light scuffs scratches and usual finish loss, tarnishing and still looks fabulous! Not sure if it had a base at one time but see cross bar with hole underside.
Guessing made early 1900’s. Cool Little Bust!!!
