Nanbu Tetsubin – Hisago (Gourd) 0.4 L – Japanese cast iron teapot.
Vintage Tea Pot. Seen these called Nanbu Tetsubin – Hisago (Gourd) 0.4 L – Japanese cast iron teapots. This one is unsigned. Ornate handle folds up and down. This cool Kettle is new to me but very interesting so did little research and this is a great piece.
Kettle has a 5 1/2″ diameter, 3 1/2″ tall to top of lid finial, close to 6″ tall with handle in up right position. Nice weight at 2 pound 2 oz. Good condition for age with its light scratches, scuffs, surface rusting outside. Inside looks good with a protective coating and looks clean. Has nice Patina and still displays nicely!! Inside and outsides pretty well taken care of. No Basket.
