Vintage small Norman Bacon Raku Vessel. Measures 2 3/4″ tall and close to 4″ widest diameter. Weight is nice at little over 1/4 pound. This vessel is small and signed on bottom. Looks like it could read Bacon. Came with other pieces signed Bacon. So guessing Norman Bacon cause it does look like his cool work. Also from what I read he is from Woodstock which is local where pottery was purchased. Found some fun reading on Norman Bacon.
(After a thirty-year career starting in 1970, his life took a radical change moving on to other creative adventures. His art is a mixture of spontaneity and control, perfection and imperfection. Each piece he created is a unique, artistic expression, bringing clay, fire, water, and air together. Norman started his career in ceramics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the late sixties. His work with the raku process began in 1979. The Raku process consists of rapid firing and cooling, which transform clay objects into natural works of art. The resulting piece has colors and textures that cannot be duplicated.)
Looks like his older work. Has its scuffs and scratches and still looks great!
Guessing made before 2000. Cool Old Small Raku Vessel!!! Have other Raku pottery also.
