Unusual Wood Hand Crafted Man Pulling Barrel Figurines/Sculptures. Not sure of wood type but has nice grain and stain with very good weight so possible hardwood. Very unusual with the arms, body, and barrel able to move and swing for different looks. I tried to tighten screws holding them and they are tight so figuring made to move. Do not see a signature. Seen similar stationary but this one seems mechanical.
Base 10″ x 4 1/2″ and tapers up from 1/2″ to 1 1/8″. Total height is 7″ to top of shoulders. The weight is 2 1/2 pounds each. Amazing details and colors. The rope is solid and slides easily. These sculptures are in good condition. Rubber feet bumpers were recently added to bottoms.
Both have imperfection from use, age and making process. One head/ hat came loose and I just put some black tape around dowel to hold it in place which it does but gravity may take hold eventually and it may fall out so glue would be long tern fix it, then the average wear from age and use with scratches, scuffs, handling marks, nicks, chips, nice color wood and still looks great! Flat head screws were used and there is a hole under one arm guessing from making process depending angle of barrel..
These are hard to find especially in pairs so if your looking for something different these are for you. Tried as bookends but didn’t seem to work at all. No antiques just vintage and nice custom hand made mechanical matching wood sculptures.
