Vintage Solid Brass Ashtray with Irish Setters. Found little history at bottom of page of this great company!

Just tray not counting snout or cig holder measure 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″ and 1/2″ high. Weight is a nice 10 1/2 oz. This tray is signed on underside with the VM logo top right and and 3-2 setter. Seen several of these but this one unusual with its applied Patina with much still intact. Light wear, dont think it seen to many cigarettes and has nice mixed Patinas!!

Guessing made 1940’s late 1960’s. Great looking hunting themed ashtray! Please check pictures for description and condition.

Item can be found at Etsy.

Virginia Metalcrafters (VM) was founded in 1895 as the W. J. Loth Stove Company of Waynesboro, Virginia. (In 1890 it was called the Waynesboro Stove Company – still Mr. Loth.) They initially manufactured cast iron stoves and wood and coal heaters.

In 1938 Loth installed a brass foundry and Virginia Metalcrafters became the brand name of the company’s brass and iron giftware line. March 1, 1940 marked the first use of the VM Betty Lamp hallmark on their products. When brass was once again available after World War II, production was resumed and their gift line was expanded.
