This Match box looks brass and nonmagnetic but could be another metal and bullet heads are magnetic so mixed metals. Seen a few of these matchboxes but this one has a lot going for it. Matchbox is decorated with a Iron Cross one side and other has coat of arms with lion and unicorn, two bullet heads. I see 1914 on cross. Crest looks to read Dieu et mon droit (God and my right). Measures 2 3/8″ x 1 5/8″ x 3/4″ thick. Weight is light at little over 1 oz. Has its wear from age and use with scratches, scuffs, tarnishing, greening, verdigris, bends, small dings, nice Patina and still looks great.
Nicely made piece of Trench Art and would look good on any WWI collectors desk.
